The Truman Education Center held the first session of its new Lunch and Learn presentation series Nov. 8 in Thurman Hall of the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence headquarters building.
According to Norris Johnson, Truman Education Center division chief, events are currently being planned to take place bimonthly and are open to service members as well as civilians.
“This is the first of many sessions being offered to our community in order to stimulate thinking on topics of current interest, relevant to our world and intended to provide a different set of lenses by which to view world events,” Johnson said.
He added, “All of the speakers work in academic environments and are published experts in their respective fields.”
The inaugural event featured retired Brig. Gen. John Rose, Missouri State University graduate program in Defense and Strategic Studies, International Affairs professor, speaking on the topic of nuclear weapons and war.
Rose’s published works include several articles on nuclear strategy, military doctrine and long-range planning.
Individuals are encouraged to reach out to the education center in regards to topics they would like to see presented.
