The 31st Engineer Battalion swept its last two matches of the 2020 regular season to finish with a perfect 8-0 season record and a first-place finish in the final Conference B standings.
The 31st Engineers defeated the 5th Engineer Battalion 2-0 Nov. 19 at Davidson Fitness Center, then returned Nov. 20 to earn a 2-0 victory over the 2nd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment.
In other matches played Nov. 19, the 5th Engr. Bn. picked up two forfeit wins. The 5th Engineers then went on to defeat the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence 2-0 in its final regular game of the season Nov. 20.
Following the 31st Engr. Bn. in first place, the 5th Engr. Bn. finished in second place with a record of 6-2. The 14th Military Police Brigade finished in third place at 3-5, while the 2-10th Inf. Bn., also at 3-5, took fourth place, and MSCoE finished in fifth place.
Conference A scores
In Conference A matches played Nov. 19:
— The Medical Department Activity defeated the 3rd Chemical Brigade 2-1;
— The 554th Engineer Battalion picked up a forfeit win.
With only one week of matches remaining, MEDDAC leads the Conference A standings with a season record of 5-0. They are followed by the 554th Engr. Bn. at 3-2, the 3rd Chem. Bde. at 1-3 and the 169th Engineer Battalion at 1-5.
Conference A is scheduled to conclude its season Tuesday.
The 2020 Commander’s Cup Volleyball Tournament is scheduled to begin Dec. 10 at DFC. The top three teams from each conference will face each other in the tournament. Teams must have completed the regular season and not had more than one forfeiture during the season in order to advance to the postseason.
