Waynesville High School fall sports practices begin Aug. 12, while Waynesville Middle School practices are scheduled to begin Aug. 19.
Before practices begin, students should be sure they meet academic eligibility requirements, complete and turn in participation forms, physicals and pay the necessary fees. Students and parents who haven’t already done so, must also attend parent-and-athlete meetings later this month.
Participation fees
The annual athletic participation fee for both high-school and middle-school students is $25. Families with multiple children participating in sports will pay $25 for the first child, $15 for a second child and $10 for each additional child.
Forms
All Waynesville Middle School and Waynesville High School athletes must have a new Missouri State High School Activities Association physical for the 2019-20 school year, according to the Waynesville R-VI Athletics Office.
MSHSAA recently announced that it will allow its physicals to be in effect for two years; however, the Waynesville R-VI Athletics Office is requiring all athletes to turn in a completed MSHSAA physical form to participate in athletics for the 2019-20 school year. Students also need to complete a participation form. Copies of both forms are available by visiting the WHS Athletics website at https://waynesvilletigerathletics.org and clicking on the “Important Info/Forms” link.
Parent meetings
The Waynesville Athletic Department will conduct meetings for student-athletes who plan to participate in any sport during the 2019-2020 school year at 4 p.m. Aug. 25 and at 6 p.m. Aug. 27 in the WHS auditorium.
All seventh- and ninth-grade students are required to attend, as well as all other student athletes who have not attended a meeting in the past.
At least one parent or guardian must attend one of these meetings with their student-athlete. Students will not be allowed to participate in sports if they do not attend with their parent or guardian.
Each meeting will focus on eligibility, sportsmanship, the student-athlete code of conduct and parent-coach communication.
Admission prices
Regular admission prices for varsity contests held during the upcoming school year will be $4 for adults and students. Prices for sub-varsity contests will be $3 for adults and students.
Sports passes are currently available at the Waynesville Athletic Office for admission to athletic events. Individual season passes are $15 per person, while family season passes are available for $30. Annual passes are $35 per individual or $70 for a family pass.
