Olivia Kate Simon (left) and Tiffany Houston study diagrams about bats during an immersive environmental education day which transformed first-grade classrooms into mock bat caves Oct. 30 at Wood Elementary. Students explored the “cave” to find educational materials, like lists of facts, graphs and mathematics tables, all about bats. Instructors taught students the difference between fact and opinion, and they played bat-related grammar games.
